NCLEX pass rate badges for California nursing programs
Programs that stand out on public BRN data can show it. Every badge is earned by a written rule, names its year, links back to the full record, and says plainly that SEAPHE is independent of the Board.
open programs with 30 or more first-time testers were eligible
How badges are awarded
Data. First-time NCLEX-RN results for the 2024–25 reporting year (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025), from the California BRN pass-rate tables, retrieved Oct 7, 2026. No other inputs, no surveys, no fees.
Who is eligible. Programs the BRN lists as open, with 30 or more first-time testers in 2024–25. Smaller cohorts swing too much on one or two results to rank fairly. 130 programs were eligible. This is the same rule as our homepage lists.
Top 10 NCLEX pass rate. Programs with 30 or more first-time testers are ranked by their exact BRN pass rate using standard competition ranking (programs with the same rate share a rank, and the next rank is skipped). Every program ranked 10th or better earns the badge, so a tie at 10th would include all tied programs. Tied programs are labeled as tied (for example, “tied for #1 of 130”). In 2024–25, 9 programs tied for #1.
Above statewide NCLEX pass rate. An eligible program’s 2024–25 rate, rounded to one decimal as shown on this site, is higher than the California average of 90.2% (a SEAPHE tester-weighted calculation from the BRN program tables). Programs exactly at the average don’t qualify.
Each badge names its year and stays accurate for that year. When the BRN publishes 2025–26 results we will add new badges; 2024–25 badges keep saying 2024–25.
No endorsement. Every badge carries the line “Independent; not affiliated with the California BRN”. Badges are not approvals, accreditation or rankings by the Board, and schools cannot pay for one. See our disclosure policy.
